Exam Success!

Martin and Larson in the GLL seminar room

This semester, three of our graduate students passed exams to move up to the next level in their studies.

William Baker, who passed the TestDAF over the summer, went on to earn his Master's degree. He will continue his studies at Ohio State by engaging in research on the relationships of German film to Japanese and Russian film with a focus on the films of Wim Wenders and Ozu Yasujirō.

Carly Martin and Sarah Larson (pictured left) both passed their candidacy exams and are now ABD (all but dissertation) students in the doctoral program.

Sarah's research interests include Pilgrimage in Contemporary Literature, Ethics and Aesthetics, Post-1945 Travel Literature, and Theories of Space and Memory.

Carly's research interests include 18th century German Philosophy of Language, Kantian Critique and its Tradition, and the History of the German Language, especially language contact.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Bill, Sarah, and Carly!
