Healthy Enrollments in German

The Department received encouraging news about enrollment this past week. The number of students in elementary and intermediate German (1101-1103) has increased by over 20% over the past two years. And enrollment in the second-year sequence, Texts and Contexts II: 20th-Century German Language, History and Culture, has jumped by more than 40% over the same period of time.

These healthy enrollments are extremely important for the status and future of the undergraduate program, and are attributable to the growing reputation of the Department for outstanding language instruction. They bode well for attracting additional students who wish to major or minor in German over the next few years.

Other undergraduate courses continue to enroll at high levels as well. Many third and fourth-year courses are at or near capacity.
