A salute to our 2016 departmental award winners

We proudly salute the student recipients of the department's annual awards.

Danielle Meyer received the Dieter Cunz Award for the outstanding undergraduate student in GLL. Danielle will graduate this year with a double major in German and Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Haley Ritzert won the Undergraduate Research Paper Award (German language) for her fine research on Siegfried, Schlesien und Schokoladen: Parodien vom deutschen Nationalismus im Film Das schreckliche Mädchen. Kali Yallourakis won the Undergraduate Research Paper Award (English language) for her excellent essay entitled Memory Meets Identity.

The Graduate Seminar Paper Award was split into two awards this year. The committee chose Kathrin Frenzel's Improving L2 learners’ speaking fluency through video-self-recordings and Sarah Larson’s Active Nature and the Self in W.G. Sebald’s Die Ringe des Saturn.

Last but not least, Mary Ellen Rutemeyer was selected to receive the Graduate Student Service Award for her outstanding leadership, tireless efforts, and variety of contributions to the Department this year.
