Thank you for coming to the Bergsteiger events this past November!

Members of the Sächsischer Bergsteigerchor "Kurt Schlosser" Dresden, e.V. visited Columbus on their tour of the U.S. in order to help the Columbus Männerchor celebrate its 160th anniversary. Founded in 1927, and with members whose ages range from 18-83, the 140-member Bergsteigerchor http://www.bergsteigerchor.de/de/index.phtml is one of the most popular all-male choruses in Germany.

In collaboration with the Columbus Männerchchor and Dresden Sister City, Inc., the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures arranged a visit of the Bergsteigerchor to OSU's campus on Sunday, November 2. 2008 for a very special Kaffeestunde.

This was a unique and fun opportunity to practice German for real (many of the chorus members didn't speak English), extend some Buckeye hospitality to our international guests and to learn about the Bergsteigerchor and its traditions, which combine a love of nature, the mountains, and vocal music. Visit some of these links to see the Bergsteigerchchor in action: http://www.bergsteigerchor.de/de/videogalerie.phtml

On the evening of November 2, the Bergsteigerchchor performed in concert at the Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center Performing Arts Building.
