Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. What is, and to What End Should We Study the Anthropocene?

The Anthropocene concept started out as a specialist discussion among atmospheric chemists on whether the age we live in is defined by human geological agency. This paper sketches out the Anthropocene debate and its broader anthropological and ecological ramifications. In doing so, it explores its relevance for the humanities, in general, and literary studies, in particular.
