Languages2Careers Summit
The Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures (CLLC) is excited to announce the inaugural Languages2Careers Summit, hosted as part of the Languages2Careers initiative.
Designed for undergraduate world language majors and minors (including ASL) from The Ohio State University and institutions across Ohio, this premier event bridges academic language proficiency with professional career success.
Program Highlights:
- Keynote Address: Inspiring remarks from Patrick Terrien (Columbus Council on World Affairs).
- World Language Skills & Competencies Workshop: in this workshop, students learn about the competencies and skills that they have been developing in their language classes that are transferable to their work/career in the future. The focus is primarily on the development of Intercultural Competence, which has been rated among the top 10 skills needed for working in the future, and is defined as "a set of cognitive, affective, and behavioral skills and characteristics that support effective and appropriate interaction in a variety of cultural contexts” (Bennet, 2008) (Note: this workshop fulfills a graduation requirement for Romance language majors in OSU.)
- Industry Roundtable: Dynamic discussions with working professionals.
- Networking Session: Connect directly with hiring organizations, including the FBI & Peace Corps.
