Gaby Pailer, Dr. Phil. (University of Karlsruhe), is Professor and Head of CENES  at the University of British Columbia, Canada. She has published widely on gender studies and narratology, including the  Lexikon deutschsprachiger Epik und Dramatik von Autorinnen, 1730-1900 (2006), monographs on Charlotte Schiller and Hedwig Dohm, and research anthologies on Gender and Laughter: Affirmation and Subversion on Traditional and Modern Media (2009) and  Geschlechter Spiel Räume - Dramatik, Theater, Performance und Gender (2011). She is presently Vice President of the Canadian Association of University Teachers of German (CAUTG).
