We congratulate Haley Grubb, who has successfully passed her candidacy exam! 

Haley's dissertation research focuses on a longitudinal study of learners of German and their interactional development and vocabulary acquisition in video-mediate interactions with L1 speakers of German. Her data corpus is unique in that is it one of the largest corpora existing on German L2-L1 conversations (a recordings of 9 conversations of 17 students throughout three semesters of German). Her empirical and qualitative dissertation will contribute significantly to our understanding of second language acquisition and L2 interaction. 

Haley's advisor, Carmen Taleghani-Nikazm, and her candidacy exam committee members, Anna Grotans, Budimka Uskokovic, and Ludmila Isurin (Dept. of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures), were very impressed with her performance and are looking forward to her dissertation research!
