Highlights of the Kafka Events in AU 2024
We are thrilled to share the highlights of the Germany on Campus-Kafka events that took place during the autumn 2024 semester. These events provided a rich tapestry of cultural and literary experiences, celebrating the profound influence of Franz Kafka.
The semester-long Kafka Exhibition in the Hagerty Hall Global Gallery showcased 40 captivating posters by Nicholas Mahler, offering a unique glimpse into Kafka’s life, work, and humor through Mahler’s comic artistry.
On October 10th, high school students were invited to participate in Kafka German Day, a special event filled with engaging activities and competitions designed to immerse young minds in Kafka's literary legacy.
Lucia Mann's insightful presentation on October 15th, titled "From the Writing Room to the Silver Screen," provided an in-depth look at the process of making a movie in contemporary Germany.
Oliver Simons from Columbia University delivered a thought-provoking lecture on October 22nd, exploring the intricacies of Kafka’s sentence writing in "Precarious Syntax: Kafka’s Sentence Writing."
The Halloween event on October 31st brought Kafka’s eerie tales to life in Hagerty Hall, creating a spooky yet intellectually stimulating atmosphere.
The restored 4K screening of "The Trial" (1962) on November 4th at the Wexner Film Theater offered a cinematic treat for Kafka enthusiasts.
Finally, the Kafka Festival on November 13th at the Ohio Union was a grand celebration of Kafka's enduring influence, featuring a variety of events and competitions that captivated undergraduates and honored Kafka’s literary genius.
