Martin Defends Her Dissertation

Carly Martin defends dissertation at Ohio State Germanic LL 2020 August

Hearty congratulations to Carly for successfully defending on the 17th of August!

Carly Martin’s dissertation, Schöne Prose: Language Critique and Biography in the Early Herder, examines the confluence of Herder’s thinking about language and his thinking about biography in works written between 1765 and 1770. Her central argument is that Herder sees biography as a way of keeping language alive.
