Schaefer's MA thesis defended!
Congratulations to Dennis Schaefer, who successfully defended his master's thesis this semester (photo left with Prof. Davidson and his adviser, Prof. Holub).
In the autumn of 2016, Dennis was accepted to our graduate program, and in these past two years, he has written six excellent seminar papers and his thesis titled, "Modernity's Pact with the Devil: Goethe's Faust, Keller's Romeo and Julia auf dem Dorfe, and Storm's Der Schimmelreiter as Tales of Forgetting."
At our annual Awards Celebrations, Dennis won the GLL Graduate Service Award in 2017 and this year, he took home the GLL Graduate Seminar Paper Award for Moments of Modernity: Towards a Definition of Modernity with Nietzsche and Marx.
We applaud Dennis and wish him well as he follows up on job offers back home in Germany!
