Yiddish class bridges Big 10 rivalry

In eynem textbook cover

Students in Prof. Gollance's Yiddish 1101 class exchanged beginning of the year greetings in Yiddish with the first semester Yiddish class at the University of Michigan that were inspired by vintage Yiddish cards to celebrate the Jewish New Year. Gollance and her counterpart at the University of Michigan, Elena Luchina, met in the Yiddish Book Center's Yiddish Pedagogy program, which was based on the illustrated, multimedia textbook In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook. This game-changing textbook, which came out in August 2020, is being used in both Yiddish classes. Gollance and Luchina hope to do more collaborative activities between the two classes over the course of the academic year.
