On Friday, March 29, 2024, Assistant Professor Cynthia D. Porter presented as a part of the 2023/2024 Digital Humanities (DH) Showcase, which featured the research and pedagogy projects pursued by Ohio State faculty, staff, and graduate students. Porter’s presentation featured an assignment for her Autumn 2023 students enrolled in German 3200 “Afro-German History and Culture,” whose final project was a digital portfolio that gave them practice in rendering their research interests on a virtual interface, writing in German or in translation, and researching and creating multimedia. 

After securing the DH endorsement offered through the Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning (facilitated by Leigh Bonds), Porter was excited to update and enhance the final assignment for German 3200 to encourage student autonomy in the pursuit of knowledge. Porter represented GLL as one of thirteen presenters featured in the Digital Humanities Showcase.
