Under the title The Kraus Project (October 2013) the celebrated American novelist Jonathan Franzen has newly translated and annotated several important essays by the Austrian journalist Karl Kraus. Collaborating with him on this project was, along with Daniel Kehlmann, Paul Reitter, whose supplementary notes provide clarifications and interpretation for the American reader. This volume has been widely reviewed in such periodicals as the New York Times Book Review and The New York Review of Books. It was also a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in criticism.
