Congratulations to Mitchell Walker, a senior German and Physics major who participated in the 2017 Dresden Summer Language Program, for the award of a DAAD RISE scholarship to do research in Germany for the summer, specifically on lithium ion batteries at TU Ilmenau. He’ll be investigating the effects of mechanical stress and material composition on lithium ion battery performance and electrochemical characteristics. 

RISE Germany offers summer research internships in Germany for undergraduate students from North America, Great Britain and Ireland. In their internships, students are carefully matched with doctoral students - whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. Interns receive a monthly stipend to cover every day costs. About 300 scholarships are available each year.
