Dissertation Topic:
Investigation of instances during which linguistic and cultural differences between L1 and L2 speakers become apparent in the interaction, how speakers orient to and manage these differences. Adopting the perspective of conversation analysis and ethnomethodology, my study draws and expands upon several strands of research including intercultural competence, cross-cultural communication, technology, interactional linguistics, and language learning.
